Duplexes, Triplexes and Quadraplexes

 

The name of each of these entities indicates the number of units that they each contain.  Duplex (two), triplex (three) and quardrplex (four).  The number of units is the number of different family tenants or as a whole are known as multi-family housing.  The owner owns the multi-family dwelling as a whole, the building, the land it sits on, etc.  The owner can and sometimes does reside in one of the units and leases out the other units but does not have to live on site, all units can be leased out.
